Best Coast ha hecho una nueva versión de su exitosa canción de 2010 «Boyfriend«. En el original, Bethany Cosentino cantaba principalmente a una figura masculina. Ahora, la letra incluye diferentes pronombres para hacer que la canción sea más inclusiva para los oyentes LGBTQ +. Por ejemplo, se abre la nueva canción:

Desearía que él fuera mi novio
. Desearía que ella fuera mi novia
. Los amaría hasta el final.
Pero en cambio, es solo un amigo.

“Boyfriend (10th Anniversary Edition)” está disponible exclusivamente en Bandcamp hoy (7 de agosto), ya que el sitio una vez más renuncia a sus ingresos compartidos . Las ganancias de la pista van al Proyecto Trevor . Escuche la canción a continuación.

Este año, Best Coast lanzó el nuevo álbum Always Tomorrow. La próxima semana, la banda celebrará el décimo aniversario de su debut Crazy for You con un evento de transmisión en vivo repleto de estrellas .

You might remember back in June (which feels like 1 million years ago jeez) I posted about my relationship to “Boyfriend” and how happy I was to discover it had become a bit of an LGBTQ+ anthem over the years.  Well, I decided to really put my money where my mouth is and go in and re-record “Boyfriend” to be more inclusive and then donate 100% of the proceeds of the song to the @trevorproject, an organization that focuses on suicide prevention efforts among lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning youth. The core of Best Coast songs have always been about struggling with your identity while trying to keep your head above water, so I deeply care about any organization that focuses on mental health awareness. This new version is available for TODAY ONLY on our @bandcamp page – link in bio.
