El último álbum de The Cure, Songs of a Lost World, se renueva gracias a artistas como Chino Moreno, cantante de Deftones, Mogwai, Four Tet, Orbital, Paul Oakenfold y otros. Un álbum de remezclas titulado Mixes of a Lost World saldrá el 13 de junio, y las regalías se destinarán a la organización benéfica War Child UK.
“Justo después de Navidad, me enviaron un par de remixes no solicitados de canciones de Songs of a Lost World y me encantaron”, declaró Robert Smith de The Cure en un comunicado de prensa. “The Cure tiene una rica historia con todo tipo de música dance, y tenía curiosidad por ver cómo sonaría el álbum completo reinterpretado por otros”.
Añadió: «Esta curiosidad resultó en un fabuloso recorrido por las 8 canciones de 24 maravillosos artistas y remezcladores, y supera con creces mis expectativas. Donar las regalías de grabación del proyecto a War Child ayuda a que ‘Mixes of a Lost World’ sea un lanzamiento aún más especial».
Las remezclas de Moreno («Warchild«), Mogwai («Endsong«) y 65daysofstatic («All I Ever Am«) solo aparecen en las ediciones de lujo de 3 LP o 3 CD de Mixes of a Lost World. Las remezclas de Four Tet («Alone«), Paul Oakenfold («I Can Never Say Goodbye«), Orbital («Endsong«) y otros aparecen en las ediciones estándar de 2 LP o 2 CD, así como en las versiones de lujo.
